NUCO Training

NUCO Training Courses

Over the Christmas period I have been busy getting qualified to deliver NUCO Mental Health Training Courses. I am now offering the following three courses, alongside the Mental Health First Aid Courses I offer.

NUCO or MHFA England Mental Health First Aid Courses?

The NUCO certificate carries a RQF Level 2 or 3 qualification dependant on your course choice. The MHFA England certificate is endorsed by the Royal Society of Public Health.  It comes down to preference in your requirements as an individual or organisation. NUCO is an educational body and MHFA England are the driving force in the UK behind mental health first aid awareness. So you would need to make a decision on what suits you or your organisation best?

1 Day - First Aid for Mental Health Youth

This course is suitable for anyone who actively connects with children such as parents, carers, teachers, youth group leaders and young adults.

The qualification has been designed with children and young people in mind covering areas such as depression, self-harm, eating disorders and bullying and will provide the knowledge and skills to identify a potential mental health condition, start a conversation, and provide support and guidance to professional help.

Learners will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will gain the knowledge to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered including:

  • What is first aid for youth mental health?

  • Identifying mental health conditions

  • Stress

  • Mental health conditions

  • Drugs and alcohol

  • First aid action plan for mental health

All members of the public can benefit from this course and it is a great stepping stone into First Aid for Mental Health.
