Mental Health First Aid Training

SANITAS HUB NEWSLETTER

Welcome to Sanitas Hub Newsletter.

Right now 1 in 6 workers are dealing with a mental health problem such as anxiety, depression or stress. This can stop people performing at their best.

Organisations perform better when their staff are healthy, motivated and focused. Smart employers support employees who are experiencing mental health problems to cope and recover. The support people receive from employers is key in determining how well and how quickly they are able to get back to peak performance. Standing by people when they experience a mental health problem is not only about keeping hold of a valuable staff member – it also sends a message about your organisation’s values. All employees need to see that their organisation lives its values and treats its people well. Trust and integrity are key drivers of engagement and organisations that support staff reap the benefits in terms of loyalty and commitment from all employees.

We all have mental health – it moves up and down a spectrum from good to poor and it’s affected by a range of factors both in and outside of work. Starting a conversation about it doesn’t have to be difficult – we can show you how to effectively support your staff and increase employee engagement, motivation and productivity.

The workplace has changed for people and organisations. In the last few years, we've seen a global pandemic, economic downturns, cost of living pressures, adaptation to hybrid working, the great resignation and a recruitment crisis. It has taken a toll on employees, and now – more than ever – they need mental health support in the workplace.

Mental Health First Aiders (MHFAiders®) are crucial to helping boost employee wellbeing as we adjust to a profoundly changed workplace environment.

MHFAiders® are essential to maintaining employee wellbeing. Our training is grounded in proven techniques and developed with clinical practitioners to ensure we provide the best course content possible.

We make sure everything taught is reflective of people’s real lived experiences of poor mental health.

And as a result, our course has proven to increase MHFAiders’® confidence in supporting people with mental health issues, meaning they can support your workplace more effectively in the long term.

WHY TRAIN WITH SANITAS HUB

Christina James has been training Mental Health First Aider since 2015, she is a registered Mental Health Nurse. Christina is a qualified Mental Health First Aid Instructor.

Sanitas Hub Mental Health First Aid courses are taught over 2 days online, however for a corporate group booking Christina can attend the workplace to deliver the course. You can book our courses through the Sanitas Hub website or if you have a specific inquiry contact us at [email protected]

The Adult Mental Health First Aid course is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

This course won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.

You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping yourself safe.

You’ll also learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP, their school or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.

What’s more, you’ll gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you.

REFRESHER COURSE

We believe that mental health should be treated equally to physical health – and just like physical first aid, Mental Health First Aid training should be kept up to date.

The four-hour MHFA Refresher course gives you the chance to:

  • Renew your skills

  • Update your knowledge of mental health support

  • Practice applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan

  • Access three years of MHFAider® Support and Benefits

Please note that the MHFA Refresher is only for people who have completed a MHFA course - either the one day champion course or the two day MHFA course, or an Armed Forces Mental Health First Aider course.

You can book our courses through the Sanitas Hub website or if you have a specific inquiry contact us at [email protected]
